Abstract:Objective: To investigate differences and relationship of rumination, personality trait and depression. Methods: A total of 447 college students were randomly selected and tested by ruminant reaction scale (RRS), big five personality inventory (NEO-FFI) and the Beck depression self-assessment questionnaire, respectively. Results: There was significant gender difference on neuroticism; three dimensions of rumination and neuroticism had positive correlation with depression; extroversion, openness, agreeableness and conscientiousness had significantly negative correlation with depression. Conclusion: Regression analysis showed that pathological rumination and neuroticism level can positively predict onset of depression.
