The self?designed online questionnaire was used to investigate the effect of family support on life quality and medical assistance in elderly people. It was found that the elderly people included in the survey had a moderate life quality, and better family support and medical assistance. There was a positive correlation of life quality to medical assistance and family support. However, the reduction of family size and the rapid aging of the population brought challenges to family pensions, and families were increasingly dependent on external support. Family support was important to life quality, mental health, treatment of disease and rehabilitation in elderly people. It was the trend to form a security system based on family support, community support and medical support.
