Abstract:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is closely related to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which mostly occurs in south China and Southeast Asian countries. Because of the anatomical limitation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and its sensitivity of radiotherapy, radiotherapy can achieve satisfactory results for early patients, However, most patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma are locally advanced when they are diagnosed, for these patients, comprehensive treatment based on radiotherapy has gradually become the main means of treatment. How to improve the treatment effect and quality of life of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma is still a big challenge. In this paper, the development of chemoradiotherapy and the choice of chemotherapy regimens, as well as the development of new technologies such as targeted therapy, immunotherapy and surgery are discussed.
