    Abstract:

Objective:To investigate the effects of Valsartan on the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1) in the arteria of STZ-induced diabetic rats. Methods:SD rats were randomly divided into NC group,DM group and DV group. Blood glucose(BG), body weight(BW), and HbA1c were observed. the expression of MCP-1 in the arteria of diabetic rats was detected by RT-PCR and Western blot at the 8 th week. Results:The BW of diabetic rats in DM and DV groups decreased significantly compared with NC group(P < 0.01), but no notable difference was found in HbA1c and BG between DM and DV group(P > 0.05). The expression of MCP-1 mRNA in DM and DV groups was much higher than that in NC group(P < 0.01), but it was much lower in DV group than that in DM group(P < 0.01). The expression of MCP-1 protein in DM and DV groups was much higher than that in NC group(P < 0.01), and it was much lower in DV group than that in DM group(P < 0.01). Conclusion:The expression of MCP-1 is much higher in the arteria of diabetic rats. Valsartan could obviously reduce the expression of MCP-1 in the arteria of diabetic rats and ameliorate the inflammation in the arteria.
