Abstract:Objective:To investigate the expression of N-acetyl-glucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase,an important enzyme in synthetic enzyme for L-selectin ligant in the endometrium from the patients with carcinoma of endometrium and normal women. Methods:Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) method was used to detect and quantify N-acetyl-glucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase mRNA expression levels in the endometrium of 16 patients with carcinoma of endometrium which were recruited as study group and 16 healthy women as the control. Results:The expression of N-acetyl-glucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase was observed in normal, but the expression level in study group was significantly higher than that in control group(0.87 ± 0.08 vs 0.45 ± 0.11,P < 0.001), higher than that in paraneoplastic endometrium of the patients with carcinoma(0.87 ± 0.08 vs 0.49 ± 0.12,P < 0.001). Conclusion:The higher expression of N-acetyl-glucosamine-6-O-sulfotransferase in the endometrium from the patients with carcinoma of endometrium may indicate a close correlation with the development and metastasis of cancer cells.
