    Abstract:

Objective:To investigate the effects of GCP-02,a PPARα/γ dual agonist,on glucose utilization,pre-adipocyte differe-ntiation and cell viability in cultured cells. Methods:GCP-02 was tested for its effects on glucose transportation and consumption in HepG2 cells,on adipocyte differentiation in 3T3-L1 cells, respectively. Viability of HepG2 and WB-F344 cells was also investigated. Results:Viability of WB-F344 cells originated from rat was inhibited while that of HepG2 was not influenced by GCP-02 at the concentration of 10-5 mol/L. GCP-02 increased glucose consumption but not glucose transportation in HepG2 cells. It promoted oil production at the concentrations with no influence on cell viability in 3T3-L1 cells. Conclusion:GCP-02 increased glucose consumption in HepG2 cells, promoted 3T3-L1 pre-adipocyte differentiation, suppressed viability in WB-F344 cells.
