Abstract:Objective:To investigate the expression of MK protein and its correlation with neovascularization in cervical squamous cell carcinoma,so as to provide experimental foundation for prevention and therapy of CSCC. Methods:The expression of MK protein and microvascular density(MVD) labeled by CD34 were examined by immunohistochemistry S-P method in 58 cases of CSCC and 10 cases of normal cervical epithelium. Results:The expression of MK protein and MVD were significantly higher in CSCC than that in normal cervical epithelium(P < 0.01). Overexpression of MK protein in CSCC was related to tumor size and FIGO staging, but had no relation to age, differentiation degree and lymphnode metastasis. The MVD was significantly higher in the MK protein positive tumors than in negative ones(P < 0.05). Conclusion:The expression of MK protein might play an important role in carcinogenesis and development of CSCC and have close relation with tumor neovascularization. MK could be taken as a new target for prevention and therapy of CSCC.
