A survey on the knowledge of 1668 migrant workers about AIDS and the relevant analysis of its influencing factors

    Abstract:

    Objective:To know about the knowledge of migrant workers in Jiangsu area about AIDS,including the basic knowledge,means of transmission,and its clinical symptoms, and analyze the influencing factors on their knowledge. Methods:1668 migrant workers in the factories and construction sites were investigated in Nanjing and Kunshan of Jiangsu Province, and the univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors on their situation of knowledge. Results:In general,the migrant workers in Jiangsu area lack knowledge about AIDS. Most of them know little about the means of non-aids transmission and the clinical symptoms of AIDS in particular,and the percentages of workers knowing about the two aspects are 26.62% and 27.27%, respectively. The percentage of women having knowledge about AIDS is lower than that of men,and workers with higher educational level know more about AIDS. Conclusion:AIDS health education should be carried out urgently among migrant workers to improve their knowledge about it.
