Objectives:To investigate the correlation between the rs8177412 of promoter polymorphisms in the plasma Glutathione Peroxidase(GPX-3) gene and arterial ischemic Stroke. Methods:Ninety four patients(patient group) with arterial ischemic stroke and eighty healty subjects(control group) were recruited in the study, and promoter polymorphisms of the plasma Glutathione Peroxidase(GPX-3) gene were detected using polymerase chain reaction and ligase detection reaction(PCR-LDR). Results:At rs8177412 site of the Plasma Glutathione Peroxidase(GPX-3) Promoter Gene, the frequency of TC+CC-type and the frequency of C alleles respectively were increased in the patient group than that in the control group(P < 0.05). Conclusions:There were some relationships between rs8177412 of promoter polymorphisms in the plasma glutathione peroxidase(GPX-3) gene and arterial ischemic Stroke, and they may be an important risk factor for stroke.
