Objective:To study the effects of Kuikeling(KKL) on IL-8 levels in the serum of rats with ulcerative colitis and to research them mechanism for repairing these ulcers. Methods:Ulcerative colitis model was established by TNBS method. Total of 72 rats were randomly divided into 6 groups:normal group,model group,KKL large, medium,and little dose groups,SASP group. Colon mucosal inflammation and damage were assessed by mucosal lesion area and histological damage scores. Levels of serum interleukin-8(IL-8) were detected by ELISA. Results:Compared with the model group,the Mucosal lesionarea and histological damage scores in treatment groups were significantly improved, and the serum levels of IL-8 in the of treatment group were significantly decreased(P < 0.01). Conclusion:The present study proved that KKL has therapeutic effect on UC,it can down-regulate the serum levels of IL-8.
