Effect of diet improvement on the weight gain of the pregnant women with gestational abnormal glucose metabolism

    Abstract:

    Objective:To investigate the effect of diet modification on the weight of the pregnant women with gestational abnormal glucose metabolism. Methods:24 pregnant women with gestational abnormal glucose metabolism were recruited by the glucose challenge or tolerance test,and they have been pregnant for 26 to 28 weeks. The food intake frequency for 3 months before the test was investigated. Nutritional therapy was designed for each women based on the nutrtional assessment,individual status,etc. The change on the level of serum glucose and the weight gain were observed. Results:After the modification,the intake of whole-grain cereals,soybean products,marines,vegetables increased obviously,while the intake of oil,grains,meats decreased significantly,and the intake of energy,fat,carbohydrates was also reduced. The level of 2-hour-postprandial glucose and the weight gain per week decreased. Conclusion:The weight gain can be reduced by diet modification for the pregnant women with gestational abnormal glucose metabolism.
