    Abstract:

Objective:To observe the effect of valdecoxib on PGE2 secretion of human gingival fibroblasts(HGFs) which were treated with lipopolysaccharides(LPS). Methods:The quantification of cell proliferation and cell viability was analyzed by ELISA assay to determine the influences of LPS and valdecoxib on the secretion of PGE2 in HGFs cultured in vitro. Results:LPS can stimulate the HGFs secreting PGE2 in a dose-dependent manner;and valdecoxib can significantly inhibit the effect of LPS on the secretion of PGE2,which is also in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion:Valdecoxib can inhibit PGE2 secretion of HGFs stimulated with LPS.
