Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of Fascin expression in esophagus carcinoma. Methods:Fascin protein expression was detected by immunohistochemistry(MaxVision method) using the monoclonal antibody and its intensity was assessed quantitatively by Image-pro plus image analysis system. Results:The expression of Fascin in the tissues of esophagus carcinoma was higher than that in normal esophagus tissues(P < 0.05),which correlated with clinical stage(P < 0.05),infiltration degree(P < 0.05),lymphatic metastasis(P < 0.01). The expression of Fascin was also associated with histological grade of esophagus squamous carcinoma. Conclusion:The higher expression of Fascin is the marker of high invasive and low histological grade of esophagus carcinoma, and Fascin may become a target in the therapy of esophagus carcinoma.
