Abstract:Objective:To explore the epidemiologic characteristics of emerging infectious diseases in Nantong city. Methods:Descriptive epidemiology was used to analyze the data from 2003 to 2011. Results:In the period of 2003-2011,216 accidents including class A,B,C and other infectious disease,which can be divided into 13 categories,were reported to the local public health bureau of Nantong. There was one accident of major emerging infectious disease event and 215 accidents (4 734 cases) of normal emerging infectious disease events. Among them,67.13% of the total accidents and 97.23% of the total cases were school emerging infectious disease. Most of the cases happened in the urban and rural primary schools. And 91.72% of all accidents and 91.34% of all cases in school emerging diseases were respiratory infectious diseases. Conclusion:The infectious disease control should focus on the respiratory disease in the urban and rural primary schools.
