Abstract:Objective:To investigate the adherence status and interrelated factors of highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART)on men who have sex with men(MSM)in Jiangsu province. Methods:Totally 184 new HIV AIDS patients who received antiretroviral therapy in 2013—2014 were recruited with purposive sampling method in this study. All participants were asked to complete one questionnaire. Results:Among the 184 HIV/AIDS patients,76.1% of participants had a good adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Univariable analysis showed that employment, smoking and social support (family, friends and other support)were the relative factors which influence the adherence among HIV/AIDS patients. Multivariable analyses showed that employment, smoking, family and other support were the major risk factors (P < 0.05). Conclusion:The medication adherence to HAART of HIV/AIDS patients in MSM is low. The related professional departments should strengthen the compliance education before HAART.
