Metaphor was an important means of expressing time in Chinese. People knew time was an abstract conception through other conceptions of concrete images. Ontological metaphors, orientational metaphors and structure metaphor were the main ways of time metaphor. The character of the metaphor expressed by time in Chinese was proved from one certain aspect that metaphor played an important rule in human language.
