    Abstract:

Through comparing the health literacy differences between urban areas (samples from Tiexingqiao community) and rural areas (samples from Xishan community) in Yuhua district, 300 residents aged from 15 to 69 respectively, before and after health intervention by questionnaires, the article found that the health literacy status of urban area was much better than rural area. The rate of having basic knowledge and attitudes in rural area was relatively low even after intervention, and the health literacy level of residents between age 65 and age 69 was not significant improved after intervention. As a result, raising the strategy of “two wheels driving mechanism”was a feasible way to shrink the difference of health literacy level between urban and rural areas.
