College courses on public speaking have received more and more attention. According to the public speaking level of Chinese college student and weakness in college speaking training at present,an exploratory reform,aiming at helping students’ verbal communication during all kinds of interviews,has been done in college selective course of public speaking and presentation. The international Toastmaster speaking training skills had been first introduced into the classroom and modified based on Chinese national condition. Results showed that the application of Toastmaster training skills helped optimize the efficiency of the course of public speaking and presentation. This course not only increased students’ public speaking performance significantly,but also stimulated their interests for expressing themselves and encouraged self－motivation which would help built up students’ confidence and comprehensive quality for further job－hunting competition.
