During the war of resistance against Japan,the Anti-Japanese Based Area was damaged by the prevalence of different kinds of diseases. New Fourth Army actively supported the work of local medical care,such as treatment for masses,establishment of local medical institutions,implementation of epidemic prevention campaign,mobilization of civil traditional medicine,development of health habits of the masses,training of local medical staff. All these measures reduced the disease pain of masses in the base area,covered the sick and wounded soldiers,solved the medical problem of local workers,closed relations between the army and people,and expended the influence of New Fourth Army.
