Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effects of AQP4 on the interplay between sex hormone and neurotransmitter. Methods: Firstly, we compared the concentrations of estrogen and progestogen between AQP4 knockout and wild type female mice. And then we determined the alterations of monoamine neurotransmitters in ovariectomied female mice. Results:AQP4 knockout decreased the concentrations of estrogen and progestogen. Ovariectomy only induced the decrease of DA in striatum of AQP4+/+ mice, did not alter the levels of DA in AQP4-/- mice. Conclusion:These findings reveal for the first time that AQP4 altered the action of ovarian hormones on monoamine neurotransmitters.

Abstract:Objective: To isolate and clone the interferon regulatory factor(vIRF) encoding K9 gene of human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), and to investigate the expression in the eukaryotic cells. Methods:A pair of PCR primers for K9 gene with HindⅢ and BamHⅠ restriction enzyme cut sites were designed according to the sequence registered in GenBank. Then the genome of primary effusion lymphomas(PEL, also termed body cavity-based lymphomas or BCBL) was taken as template and K9 gene was amplified using PCR. Subsequently, amplified gene fragments were digested with the two enzymes mentioned above and then cloned into pcDNA3.1(+) vector to create recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid designated as pK9. To facilitate the detection of protein, another pair of PCR primers was designed with the same forward primer and Flag sequence was introduced at the 5′ end of the reverse primer. Then K9-Flag fusion gene was amplified by using PCR, taking plasmid pK9 as template and were further cloned into pcDNA3.1(+) vector to construct recombinant eukaryotic expression plasmid designated as pK9F. After identification with enzyme digestion and nucleotide sequences analysis, recombinant pK9F was transfected into NIH3T3 cells. The expression of pK9F mRNA and protein in NIH3T3 cells was detected by RT-PCR and western blot, respectively. Results: Nucleotide sequences analysis indicated that the isolated and cloned K9-Flag sequence length was 1 380 bp. The isolated K9 sequence was 100% homology with K9 gene previously registered in GenBank. The specific bands were both detected at the expected place by RT-PCR and Western blot. Conclusion: K9 gene could be correctly expressed in NIH3T3 cells.

Abstract:Objective: To construct a recombinant plasmid including the gene coding the major allergen of Platanus acerifolia pollen. Methods: Total RNA was extracted from natural Platanus acerifolia pollen and cDNA was revese-transcripted. The DNA sequence of major allergen of platanus acerifolia pollen was amplified by polymerase chain reaction(PCR). The linkage between amplified DNA sequences and plasmid pET32a was realized by double enzyme digestion. The recombinant plasmid was subsequently transferred into E.coli DH5α to prepare gene clone by CaCl2 method. The cloned recombinant plasmid was extracted by alkaline lysis method and the target fragment was confirmed by agarose electrophoresis, followed by PCR and sequencing. Results: The recombinant plasmid including the gene coding the major allergen of Platanus acerifolia pollen was constructed. Conclusion: The recombinant plasmid which included the gene coding the major allergen could be successfully constructed by using natural Platanus acerifolia pollen, and will be available for inducing expression of the recombinant major allergen protein.

Abstract:Objective:To construct plEGFP-N1 mammalian expression vector system containing human full-length HGF cDNA, and to study the packaging efficiency of phoenix cells and the expression of HGF in bone marrow stem cells(MSCs). Methods:The plasmid plEGFP-N1 and expression plasmid pCMV-HGF were cut with BamHI enzyme respectively. HGF cDNA was obtained and subcloned into plEGFP-N1 expression vector. The recombinant plEGFP-HGF was identificated with restriction enzyme digestion and sequencing. Subsequently, plEGFP-HGF was transformed into phoenix cells and the supernatant was collected. The expression of HGF in the transfected cells was detected by ELISA. RT-PCR was used to determine the expression the receptor of HGF, c-met mRNA in plEGFP-HGF+MSCs. Results:The mammalian expression vector system plEGFP-HGF was digested with BamHI and HindⅢ. Agarose gel electrophoresis showed that there were fragments of 2.3 kb(HGF) and 6.9 kb(plEGFP-N1). DNA sequencing of HGF was identical to the report in Genebank. The results of RT-PCR showed that c-met transcript strongly increased in pEGFP-HGF/MSCs, suggesting that HGF amplified its own action via stimulation of c-met expression. Conclusion:The plEGFP-HGF mammalian expression vector system containing human full-length HGF cDNA could be constructed successfully, and they could be effectively expressed in MSCs.

Abstract:Objectives: To explore the role of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) on UV-induced VEGF secretion of MEF. Methods: Flow cytometry was used to detect total receptor and tyrosine-phosphorylated EGFR, respectively. the concentration of VEGF was determined by ELISA. Results: EGFR phosphorylation was detectable within 15 min after UV exposure. The level of EGFR phosphorylation reached peak 30 min after UV exposure, and was decreased to basal levels 2 to 8 h after UV exposure. VEGF expression was not increased in EGFR(-/-) MEF following UV exposure. In contrast VEGF expression, was significantly increased in egfr(+/+) MEF after UV exposure. PD153035 inhibited the induction of VEGF protein expression in UVB-treated cells in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion: EGFR plays an important role in UV-induced VEGF secretion in MEF.

Abstract:Objective: To study the relationship between genetic polymorphism of cytochromes P4502E1 RsaⅠand smoking,alcohol drinking habit with the susceptibility of rectal cancer. Methods:A case-control study was conducted with 210 cases of rectal cancer and 439 population-based controls in Jiangsu Province, China. The epidemiological data were collected, and DNA of peripheral blood leukocytes was obtained from all the subjects. CYP2E1 RsaⅠgenotypes were detected by PCR-RFLP. Results:The frequencies of CYP2E1 RsaⅠ c1/c1,c1/c2 and c2/c2 genotypes were 58.4%, 34.0% and 7.7% in rectal caner cases, compared with 61.4%, 35.6% and 3.0% in controls(χ2 = 7.07, P = 0.029). Individuals with CYP2E1 RsaⅠ c2/c2 genotype were at an increased risk of rectal cancer(adjusted for age, sex and status of the smoking and alcohol drinking,OR = 1.64, 95% CI:1.12-2.41) compared with those with CYP2E1 RsaⅠ c1/c1 genotype. Individuals who had alcohol drinking habit were at an increased risk of rectal cancer(adjusted OR = 2.08, 95% CI:1.36-3.19), whereas smoking was not associated with risk of rectal cancer. There was a significantly cooperated effect between CYP2E1 RsaⅠ polymorphism and alcohol drinking habit in the risk of rectal cancer. The risk of rectal cancer of individuals with CYP2E1 RsaⅠ c2/c2 genotypes and drinking habit increased 5.75 times(95%CI:1.65-20.05). Conclusion:Polymorphisms of the CYP2E1 RsaⅠ and acohol drinking have effects on rectal cancer and have significantly synergic effect.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of rosmarinic acid (RA) on experimental mesangioproliferative glomerulonephritis (MsPGN) and renal TGF-β1 expression. Methods: Rabbit antithymocyte serum(ATS) was produced, and then MsPGN animal models were prepared in Sprague-Dawley rats by a single intravenous injection of ATS. Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into four groups(n = 6, respectively): control group, treated with rabbit serum and tap water: model group, treated with ATS (10 ml/kg ) and tap water: low-dose and high-dose rosmarinic acid groups, treated with ATS(10 ml/kg ) and rosmarinic acid[25 mg/(kg·d)] and [25 mg/(kg·d), respectively]. Rosmarinic acid was administered by gavage for 7 days from the day of serum injection. Urinary protein was examined. All rats were sacrificed on the 8th day, then the kidneys were collected. The morphologic lesions were observed by PAS stain, and the expression of TGF-β1 was detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Results:Compared to model group, the level of 24-hour proteinuria in low-dose or high-dose rosmarinic acid treated groups decreased significantly. Renal pathologic changes in rosmarinic acid treated groups was also improved. Compared to normal group, glomerular expression of TGF-β1 mRNA was significantly increased in model group(P < 0.01), which was significantly inhibited by low-dose or high-dose rosmarinic acid. The expression of TGF-β1 mainly distributed along glomerular vessels and mesangiums. Compared to normal group, the expression of TGF-β1 was increased significantly in glomeruli of MsPGN rats. After 7 days of treatment, rosmarinic acid significantly down-regulated the expression of TGF-β1. Conclusion:Renoprotective mechanism of rosmarinic acid may partly be correlated with suppression on overexpression of TGF-β1 in renal tissue of MsPGN rats.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor antagonist(AT1RA) losartan and hydroxy-methyl-glutaryl coenzymeA reductase inhibitor(HMG-CoA RI) simvastatin on transcription of BAX and BCL-2 genes of uninephrectomized diabetic rats. Methods:Uninephrectomized SD rats were randomly divided into control group(group C) and diabetic groups induced by STZ. The diabetic rats were randomly divided into three groups: group D treated with placebo, group L treated with losartan, group S treated with simvastatin. At the same time group C was treated with placebo. At the end of 2 weeks and 10 weeks, the expressions of BAX and BCL-2 were detected by real-time quantitative PCR. Results:After 2 weeks of treatment the ratio of BAX to BCL-2 mRNA in group S increased significantly as compared with group C, group D and group L(P < 0.01). After 10 weeks of treatment the ratio of BAX to BCL-2 mRNA in group D was the highest among four groups(P < 0.01). The ratio of BAX to BCL-2 in group D was significantly increased after 10 weeks compared with 2 weeks(P < 0.01). At the same time the ratio of BAX to BCL-2 mRNA in group S was significantly reduced after 10 weeks, compared with 2 weeks(P < 0.01). Conclusion: Both BCL-2 and BAX play a role in the occurrence and progression of diabetic nephropathy. Losartan might inhibit the apoptosis of kidney through decreasing the ratio of BAX to BCL-2. Simvastatin could increase the ratio of BAX to BCL-2 at the early stage and decrease it at the advanced stage.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of grape polyphenols(GP) on lipid metabolism disorders in rats. Methods: Forty male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups randomly. The rats in control group were fed with basic diet, and the rats in model groups were fed with high fat diet for 30 days. The model groups rats were simultaneously fed with at 0, 40, 120 mg/kg. of Gp for 30 days, respectively. The serum samples of all animals were collected and used for biochemical analysis. Results: The body weight growth curves of animals among groups were similar. The serum levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and VLDL-C were significantly higher in model groups than those in control group. The levels of serum HDL-C, HDL2-C were obviously lower in model groups than those in control group. In GP-treated groups, however, the serum levels of TG,TC,VLDL-C and LDL-C were obviously lower than those in high fat diet animals(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), but still higher than those in control group. Compared to high fat diet group, the serum level of HDL2-C was increased and HDL3-C level was decreased. GP-treated groups. Conclusion: GP might play an important role in modulating blood lipid.

Abstract:Objective: To determine the effects of chaihu on learning and memory of mice. Methods: The mice were injected intra-peritoneally with different doses of chaihu twice per day for five days, then learning and memory behavior was examined using Y-maze, and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), the levels of malondialdehyde(MDA) and nitric oxide(NO) were measured by spectrophotometry. Results:The administration of chaihu improved learning and memory in a dose dependent manner, and was most effective at a dose of 400 mg/kg body weight. The memory consolidation was enhanced significantly from 24 to 72 h after training, especially 24 h after training. SOD activity and NO level were increased significantly(P < 0.01), but MDA level was reduced in brain tissues. Conclusion: The administration of chaihu could improve the capability of learning and memory which might be associated with enhancing the antioxidant action and the alteration of NO level in brain tissues.

Abstract:Objective:To study the effects of ginkgolide on the development of NOS and AchE positive neurons in the embryonic basal forebrain. Methods:The rats were divided into Ginkgo, NGF, BDNF and control groups. The cell suspension of embryonic basal forebrain was prepared from E17-day old SD rats. Dissociated cells were plated into 96-well and two 24-well cultured plates which had DMEM medium containing ginkgolide, NGF, BDNF respectively. Eighteen days after culturing, MTT staining analysis was performed to test the vitality of the cultured neurons in the 96-well cultured plate. The cultured neurons in two 24-well plates were detected by using NADPH-d and AchE histochemical stains respectively. The numbers of NOS and AchE positive neurons were counted under microscope. The cell areas and circumferences of NOS and AchE positive neurons were analyzed with CMM-301 computer image system. The data were statistically treated with ANOVA and SNK test. Results:The optical density of MTT staining analysis, the number, size and circumference of NOS and AchE positive neurons of ginkgolided treated rats were higher than those of the rats of the control group and similar to those of the NGF and BDNF group. Conclusion:Ginkgolide has similar effects of the neurotrophins such as NGF and BDNF in promoting the development of NOS and AchE positive neurons in the embryonic basal forebrain.

Abstract:Objective: To express and purify of human scFv antibody(C1) against the asialoglycoprotein receptor fused to enhanced green fluorecsent protein, and observe its binding capacity to HepG2. Methods:The recombinant plasmid EGFPC1/pET-26b proved by DNA sequencing was transformed into E. coli BL21, and induced for fusion expression of EGFPC1with IPTG, the green fluorescence of E.coli BL21 harboring plasmid EGFPC1/pET-26b was observed under the fluorecsent microscope. The expressed EGFPC1 was purified with Ni2+ chelating HiTrap HP column, and detected with SDS-PAGE. HepG2 was incubated with the recombinant EGFPC1, and the binding bioactivity was observed under the fluorecsent microscope. Results:The green fluorescence of E. coli BL21 harboring plasmid GFPS1/pET-26b was catched under the fluorecsent microscope. The recombinant GFPS1 protein was expressed in E.coli as inclusion body, rGFPS1 was prepared with Ni2+ column purification. The result of immunofluorecsent detection verified that scFv C1 could specificially bind membrane of HepG2 cells. Conclusion:The purified EGFPC1 has strong binding capacity to the membrane of HepG2 using EGFP as a labeling protein, indicated the scFv C1 has a potential value as a targeting molecule for biological therapy of hepatoma; The constructed EGFP/pET-26b can also be used for research of other targeting molecule.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of valsartan(angiotensin Ⅱtype 1 receptor antagonists) on neointimal proliferation and expression of PCNA after balloon angioplasty in rabbits. Methods:Twenty-four male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: control group(fed up with common diet), model group and valsartan group(fed up with hypercholesterolemic diet for 4 weeks, then undergoing balloon angioplasty). Four weeks after balloon angioplasty operation, model group was fed up with common diet, whereas valsartan group was fed up with the mixture of valsartan[10 mg/(kg ·d)] and common diet. The rabbits were killed at the end of the 12th week, The abdominal aorta was examined with pathologic and morphologic analysis, and the expression of PCNA was analyzed with immunohistochemical method. Results:Compared with model group, the neointimal thickness and area were decreased by 56.58% and 66.81% in valsartan group. The expression of PCNA was significantly lower in valsartan group(P < 0.01). Conclusion:Valsartan could inhibit neointimal proliferation of rabbits’ abdominal aorta after balloon injury, the mechanism might be correlated with the decreased level of PCNA in vascular smooth muscle cells, and the inhibited proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the effects of parenteral infusion of fructose or glucose on metabolic changes in post-operative patients. Methods:A polycentric, double blind and randomized clinical trial was conducted in 124 post-operative patients. The patients were divided in two groups, and fructose solution(10%,750 ml) or glucose solution(10%,750 ml) were infused intravenously affer operation. Serum glucose and insulin level were monitored to evaluate the metabolic responses to different parenteral protocols. Results:Infusion of glucose increased in insulin activity, however fructose infusion had no such effects. Conclusion:Parenteral fructose, has a significantly less adverse impact than glucose on the glucose balance in the post-operative state. The benefits of fructose-specific metabolic effects suggest that fructose is an important nutrient that contributes to metabolic stabilization, especially in the post-operation phase and in trauma patients.

Abstract:Objective: To analyze different treatment methods for cerebral arteriovenous malformations(AVMs). Methods: Of 483 patients with AVMs in Beijing Tiantan Hospital from 2000 to 2003, 136 patients were treated with endovascular embolization, 204 patients operated, 77 patients treated with gamma knife surgery, and 64 patients treated conservatively. The patients were followed up for 1 to 5 years, The efficacy and prognosis of different methods were analyzed. Results: In the group of microsurgical resection, the incidence of complication was 29.4%, and the permanent complication was 6.75%; the mortality rate was 1.23%, and the total excision was performed in 93.5% of the cases; the incidence of posttreatment hemorrhage was 1.84%. In the group of gamma knife surgery, the permanent complication was 3.6%; the incidence of posttreatment hemorrhage was 12.5% and no case died. In the group of endwascular embolization, the incidence of complication was 19.9%, and the permanent complication was 6.0%; the incidence of posttreatment hemorrhage was 21.0%, and the mortality rate was 7.0%. The incidence of hemorrhage of conservatively treated patients was 3.33% and no patient died. Conclusion: The microsurgical resection is the most reliable treatment for AVM. In some AVM cases combination therapy is necessary.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of vertebral artery CTA(VACTA) on the patients with cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type(CSA). Methods:Thirty-two subjects with cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type were underwent vertebral artery CTA. Three-dimensional post processing were employed and vertebral artery, transverse foramen, Luschka joint and their relationship were observed. Results: Among 32 cases, abnormality of vertebral artery was found in 31 cases, abnormality of transverse foramen was found in 6 cases, hyperplasia of Luschka joint were found in 20 cases. Conclusion:VACTA is one of the most reliable techniques for clinical diagnosis of CSA.

Abstract:Objective:To research the method of establishing subsiding model of avascular necrosis of femoral head. Methods: Femoral heads were frozen by liquid nitrogen, and the blood vessel and parenchyma of fundus were destroyed. X-ray and histology examination were made periodically after operation to evaluate osteo necrosis and the subsequent repair. Results:Necrosis of the femoral head was confirmed by histology in the thirty week、the seventh week and the eleventh week after operation, but repairing is not obvious. Radiographic evidence and gross observation showed Necrosis of the femoral head, but obvious subsiding appeared in the eleventh week. Conclusion:The typical animal subsiding model of avascular necrosis of the femoral head can be established with blood vessel destroy and liquid nitrogen freezing.

Abstract:Objective:To study the clinical values of coagulation parameters in patients with bone fracture. Methods:PT, APTT, FIB, TT, D-D, AT-Ⅲ, PC in 30 normal people and 34 patients with bone fracture were measured. Results:The levels of PT, APTT, FIB, D-D, AT-Ⅲ and PC of patients were higher than those of normal people. Conclusion:The coagulatior system in patient with bone fracture is changed, and the anti-coagulation ability is enhanced. It is necessary to detect the anti-coagulation parameters such as AT-Ⅲ and PC before operation.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the operation skill and effects of extraperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostectomy. Methods: Laparoscopic radical prostectomy was performed extraperitoneally in 11 cases of prostate cancer. Results: All of 11 cases of operation got success ful. The mean time of the operations was 210 min. The blood loss was 320 ml. One case of massive hemorrhage resulted from retropubic venous plex bleeding. Another case of bleeding located in, inferior abdominal wall artery. Urine exosmosis was observed in 2 patients. Conclusion:Extraperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostectomy is as effective was observed as open operative method.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the expression and orientation of decorin in renal biopsy and to investigate the correlation between decorin and TGF-β1 and renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Methods:The pathological and clinical data of 36 patients with glomerulonephritis and tubulointerstitial diseases were collocted, and divided into different groups according to serious degrees. The expression and orientation of decorin and TGF-β1 in the renal tissue were detected by immunochemistry. Results:Decorin was mainly expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells, especially in epithelium of proximal tubule. With the development of tubulointerstitial lesions, the expression of decorin was increased. TGF-β1 was mainly expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells, and there was no differece between proximal tubule and distant tubule. The expression of TGF-β1 was also increased with the development of tubulointerstitial lesions. A positive correlation was found between decorin and TGF-β1 in renal tubule. Conclusion:Decorin can take as an indicator to response the tubulointerstitial damage, at the same time, it can reduce the expression of TGF-β1 in some degree.

Methods:Colon Carcinoma cell SW480 was inoculated subcutaneously into athymic mice to develop an implantation tumor,Subsequently the tumor lumps were implanted to the SD rats’ colon mucosa to setup the model. The tumor tissues were cut and the colons were anastomosed. 6 rats which were not implanted tumors but colons been cut and anastomosed were included into control group. Then measure the tensile strength and concentrations of hydroxyproline of colon stoma tissue with HPLC. Results:60% rats were success to establish abdominal transfered Colon Carcinoma models. The tensile strength and the concentrations of hydroxyproline in colon stoma tissue were both lower in experiment group than in control group(P<0.05.) Conclusion:It’s a reliable method to build tumor model and tumor significantly delays the healing of stoma.

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the value of three-dimensional time of flight MR angiography(3D TOF MRA) and three-dimensional dynamic contrast-enhanced MR angiography(3D CE-MRA) in the diagnosis of cerebrovascular diseases. Methods:Total of 150 cases underwent 3D TOF MRA, and 9 cases underwent 3D CE-MRA. Gd-DTPA(0.2 mmol/kg) was chosen as comparing agent. The source images were subtracted and recontructed. Normol scanning included transverse T1WI and T2WI, sagittal T1WI. Results:In 150 cases, 56 were normal, and 46 presented with ateriosclerosis and vaso-occlusive, 22 with aneurysms, 21 with AVM, 3 with trauma carotid-cavemuou fistula(TCCF), 2 with moyamoya. Conclusion:3D TOF MRA and 3D CE MRA are fast, non-invasive and effective techniques, and can accurately diagnose cerebrovascular diseases. They can provide overall information for treatment planning and can be used as the first choice for the diagnosis of cerebrovascular diseases.

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of interventional treatment for lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (LEDVT). Methods:In 576 cases of LEDVT, 226 cases were implanted with inferior vena cava filters, and the thrombosis of 59 cases were aspirated by catheters. The mechanical thrombectomy devices were used to manage acute LEDVT in 119 cases. PTA was performed in 92 cases and stents were placed into iliac veins in 71 cases. Two to six methods were selected for each case depending on the history, symptom and angiography. The patients were followed up for 6 to 36 months. Results: Out of 576 cases, 170 cases presented with excellent efficacy, 269 cases with good efficacy, 126 cases with mild efficacy and 11 cases with no change. Mean hospital stays was 9.5 days. 89 cases had 6 months follow-up data including 34 excellent(38.2%), 45 good(50.6%), 4 mild(4.5%), and 6 no changes (6.7%). Conclusion: Interventional treatment of LEDVT is effective, it can shorten the course of LEDVT.

Abstract:Objective: To describe the prevalence rate of dental caries in the communities of Jiangsu province, and to provide baseline data guide for oral health care and offer information for the prevention and cure of dental cares. Methods:Referring to WHO’s “Oral Health Surveys Basic Methods”(Fourth Edition) and protocols of the third national survey,multistage, stratified, equal capacity and simple random sampling method was performed. A sample of 3 164 people in 36 communities in Jiangsu was chosen, 1 583 males and 1 581 females. The samples were subdivided into 4 groups as 5,12,35-44 and 65-74 years old. Results: The prevalence rate of deciduous teeth dental caries in 5-year-old children was 69.15% and the deciduous teeth χdmft was 3.49. There was no difference between male and female(P > 0.05). The prevalence rate of permanent teeth dental caries was 0.51% and the mean number of permanent teeth caries was 0.01. The prevalence rate of permanent teeth dental caries in 12, 35-44 and 65-74 year old people was 27.02%, 59.37% and 77.75% respectively. The mean number of permanent teeth dental caries in 12-,35-44 and 65-74-year old was 0.47, 1.76 and 3.81 respectively. The prevalence rate of permanent teeth dental caries was higher in female than that in male. The filled rate of deciduous teeth was 2.24%. The prevalence rate filled rate of permanent teeth in the four groups was 0%, 4.61%, 18.39% and 7.06%, respectively averaging 10.16%. Conclusion:Compared with the results of the second national health survey in 1995, the proportions of people in Jiangsu who get dental caries are lower. The mean number of dental caries in 12-year-old people is less than 1.1, which is recognized as very low according to the standard of WHO.

Abstract:Objective:To assess the association of HLA-DRB1*13 allele with chronic hepatitis B(CHB) in Chinese Han population. Methods:A comprehensive search for articles from 1998 to 2006 was conducted from CBMdisc, VIP database and Medline database. Six epidemiological case-control studies on the association between HLA-DRB1*13 allele and CHB were collected and analyzed using RevMan 4.2 software. Results:A total of 335 CHB cases and 659 healthy controls from these 6 studies were involved.There was no evidence showing a publication bias after Egger’s linear regression analysis. The meta-analysis results showed that HLA-DRB1*13 allele might be a protective factor against CHB, and the pooled odds ratio(OR) values was 0.40(95%CI:0.21-0.79,P = 0.008). Conclusion:By meta-analysis, it is suggested that HLA-DRB1*13 allele might be associated with the resistance to CHB in Chinese Han population.
