Objective: To investigate the new situations and progress of performance evaluation on community health service institutions in china, summarize screening and evaluating indicators and dimensions of assessment, and provide references for developing the performance evaluation on community health service. Methods: Literatures on performance evaluations of community health service institutions in China were studied, which were published during the periods of 1997~2010.4 and 2010.5 ~2013.8. Results: The financial sector participation has increased substantially. Cooperation between research institutions and medical and health institutions or administrative units has been enhanced. The assessment subject is more perfect. The mode that stakeholders involve in the performance evaluations work is gradually accepted and applied. The evaluation methods are more convenient and practical. Dimensions of assessment conform better to the community health service functions and characteristics. The assessment results are applied more scientifically. Information construction is still inadequate. Conclusion: Community health service performance evaluation work in China continues to mature and improve.
