Abstract:The reading ability of English medical literature is one of the core qualities that medical researchers must possess. However, students can’t well integrate English learning with medical knowledge because of the general English teaching during undergraduate period. Therefore students encounter many difficulties in English learning in their graduate studies, especially in the reading of English medical literature. According to the investigation of problems in English learning among postgraduates in our university, our research team makes an exploration to improve students’ reading abilities of English medical literature and hopes to use schema as the teaching scaffold to activate, construct and consolidate students’ linguistic schema, content schema and formal schema and therefore to improve their reading abilities of English medical literature.
