Abstract: Objective: To investigate the status quo of clinical pharmacy services(CPSs) in some tertiary general hospitals in China and to provide reference for the development strategy of hospital CPSs in China. Methods:Using typical sampling method, the status quo of CPSs in 18 tertiary general hospitals in six cites was investigated by the questionnaire. Results:The staff,hardware,software and funding for CPSs in the surveyed hospitals have met the criteria and they could be further improved; Clinical pharmacists working system and standards were basically established.The activities of clinical pharmacists were focused on some inpatients wards.The content of CPSs was comprehensive, but still in its infancy. Conclusion: The development and management strategy for CPSs should focus on strengthening input of human resource and funding of CPSs, expand the pilot CPSs departments in hospitals, increase the quantitative assessment of clinical pharmacy staff, give the clinical pharmacists the authority and responsibility, strengthen the application of information management system in CPSs.
