The data of the valid papers in the Journal of Nanjing Medical University (social sciences) through 2000 to 2016 was fed into CiteSpace, a bibliometrics tool, for quantitative analysis and visualization. The study finds that the published papers tend to be either school-oriented or hospital-oriented or both as one is inseparably intertwined with the other, hence this integrative orientation. Along the way, the once heated research foci gradually fall out of favor and finally give way to their successors.
