With the support of the United Nations Relief Administration, the first public rehabilitation hospital of China, the Nanjing disability reconstruction Institute, was created after the victory of the war of resistance against Japan. Archives at the second historical archives of China and Nanjing municipal archives shows that there were advanced equipment and adequate staff in the Nanjing disabled rehabilitation hospital when it was established and the director who hosted the hospital also had a very rich experience of rehabilitation services. However, as the Kuomintang regime quickly went to the end, the Nanjing rehabilitation hospital was then moved to Taiwan.
