Objective: To describe the current situation of the equalization of national essential public health service in Jiangsu province. Methods: We conducted a field survey by visiting 36 primary health care facilities in Jiangsu province using a multi-stage random sampling method. The Gini coefficient was used to evaluate the equity of service. Results: Institutions we have visited achieved the goal of national assessment task, but with significant difference between areas and projects. The Gini coefficients of health records and health education were 0.387 and 0.260, respectively, indicating a relatively reasonable and fairly fair state. The Gini coefficients of other projects were all less than 0.2, showing perfect equality. Conclusion: The implementation of the national essential public health service project in Jiangsu has progressed smoothly. However, we should pay more attention to the rational allocation of public health professionals.
