Objective: To provides suggestions for continuously improving scientific research ability and management level. Methods: The National Natural Science Foundation is an important indicator to measure the level of a research institute. This article starts with the national natural science foundation project, and analyzes the applicant's gender, age, educational background and professional title. The categories and guide codes of the declared projects analyzed the situation of obtaining NSFC project funding from 2009 to 2018, Summarize the effectiveness, experience and shortage of scientific research management. Results: Loose research system, uneven development of disciplines, and insufficient reporting organization are the key issues that make it difficult o steadily improve the standard rate of projects of the National Natural Resources Foundation. In order to improve the scientific research capacity of Chinese medicine, it is necessary to improve the project declaration and management model, promote the cross-integration of disciplines, and focus on training young talents.
