Abstract:Objective Aim to analyze pregnancy and pregnancy-related diseases sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) systematicaly, grasp the research focus in the field and the development trend, thus provide a reference for researchers and clinical workers in this field. Methods Through the database of NSFC of China to screen and gain funded project type, number, fund, research direction and the funding units from 1986 to 2019, to analyze the development trend of this field. Results In 1988, the NSFC funded this field for the first time. NSFC has funded a total of 423 research projects in the field from 1988 to 2019, including 202 general projects (47.75%), 166 youth projects (39.24%), 25 local projects (5.91%), and 30 other projects (7.09%). The number of projects was 29 (6.86%) from 1988 to 2000, increased to 60 (14.18%) from 2001 to 2010, and increased rapidly to 334 (78.96%) from 2011 to 2019. The total amount of funding was 160,776,500 yuan, showing a wavy upward trend. Funding peaks appeared in 2005, 2011, 2013, 2016 and 2018 respectively, and the annual maximum amount of funding in 2018 was 2,014 million yuan. The top three were gestational hypertension (47.75%), trophoblast (22.70%) and gestational diabetes (12.29%). Conclusion The number of funded projects in this field increases year by year, the types of funding are more diversified, and the amount of funding generally shows an upward trend, which provides more research opportunities for this field. In this way, the fund can also be used to enhance scientific research capacity and increase the reserve of scientific research talents, so as to provide more possibilities for solving such diseases.
