Abstract:The study was to establish the concept primarily of demanding beliefs and its scale and examine its reliability and validity. The theory and the items of the scale were based on results of analysis of relevant papers and half-structured interviews. The item analysis, exploratory analysis and confirmatory analysis were done. The Demanding Belief Scale(DBS) contains 16 items and 3 factors, including towards-self,towards-others,towards-world.The result of confirmatory analysis was X2/df=1.966,CFI=0.927,NNFI=0.931,TLI=0.931,IFI=0.928,RMSEA=0.069 .The results were acceptable. The test-restest reliability for 3-weeks interval was 0.759 and the split-half reliability was 0.831.Cronbach’s α was 0.901.The criterion-related with FMPS was acceptable with correlation coefficient as 0.425(P<0.01).The DBS is a qualified tool for evaluating and predicting mental health for its good psychometric properties.
