The spread of the COVID-19 had exposed many problems in China's response to public health emergencies, including the lack of a emergency response mechanism, the near-paralysis of the epidemic monitoring and early warning system, the lack of an epidemic emergency information system, the insufficient stock of emergency supplies for epidemic prevention and the lagging management as well as the lack of medical emergency drills. Jiangsu Province was found that the emergency command coordination linkage mechanism for public health emergencies needs to be further strengthened, the epidemic monitoring and early warning mechanism needs to be continuously improved, and the epidemic emergency information sharing mechanism needs to develop; the emergency material management, and supply guarantee mechanism for the epidemic urgently needs to be improved as soon as possible, and the emergency drill mechanism for public health emergencies needs to be established first. To this end, the suggestions are as follows: raise awareness and speed up the formation of a consensus on improving the emergency response capabilities of public health emergencies; improve the province’s emergency response mechanism for public health emergencies from the entire emergency management process; build the Jiangsu epidemic monitoring and early warning system and improve its operating mechanism; design epidemic emergency information system to promote information sharing; construct a major epidemic emergency material management and supply guarantee and information system; establish and improve the operational mechanism of emergency drills for public health emergencies，and broaden ideas and innovate the training model of health emergency personnel.
