It is a primary objective for universities and colleges to develop the abilities of practice and innovation. However, it has yet to achieve this goal in the discipline of Health services management. This is a challenge to cultivate talents to help achieve modernization of governance systems and governance capacity in China’s health sector. Based on the review on the development of ability of practice and innovation at home and abroad, this study has clearly defined the feature, concept and content of the ability of practice and innovation for the discipline of Health services management, and thereby some countermeasures and suggestions have been put forward to develop these abilities.
