Popular medical science education is an effective way to spread health concepts and enhance people’s self-health management ability. It aims to spread medical science knowledge, disease prevention and treatment methods, medical health care measures and health concepts to the public through a variety of means and channels, and improve the health awareness and health literacy of all people. It is also an essential part of the construction of a "healthy China". However, compared with China's booming economy and rapidly improvement of living standards, the basic medical literacy of Chinese residents is still relatively backward. Therefore, popular medical science education has been paid more and more attention. With the rapid development of new media, it has shown great advantages and gradually become the major means of popular medical science education. Through the use of new media model for popular medical science education, we found that this kind of popular medical science education has great advantages and potential in the interest, spread range, communication and other aspects.
