Abstract:To explore the changes of belief system and world outlook of college students after bereavement and their relationship with traumatic grief, so as to provide basis for understanding the emotional problems of college students after bereavement. 1032 college students from 6 universities in Fujian Province were investigated with World View scale (WAS), Life orientation questionnaire (LOT-R), irrational belief scale (BRBI), irrational belief scale (IBS) and Trauma grief questionnaire (TGI). The students were divided into "bereavement group" and "non-bereavement group" (control group). Results showed that:①The "impartiality" of the "bereavement group" was significantly lower than that of the control group, and the randomness of the "bereavement group" was significantly higher than that of the control group (t =-1.97,2.93, P < 0.001). The irrational beliefs and irrational beliefs related to bereavement were significantly higher than those in the control group (t = 7.08, 8.36, P<0.05); ②In the bereaved group, there was a significant negative correlation between "self-worth" and traumatic grief (r=-0.18, P<0.01). Moreover, irrational beliefs and irrational beliefs related to life orientation and bereavement were positively correlated with traumatic grief (r=0.17,0.41,0.40, respectively, P<0.01);③The bereavement-related irrational beliefs and irrational beliefs of college students in the "bereavement group" can significantly predict traumatic grief (β=0.27, 0.21, P<0.01), and the explanation rate is 20.1%. In conclusion, after the loss of a university student, the worldassumption of "world meaningfulness" and irrational beliefs are changed, but only irrational beliefs significantly predict the traumatic grief, therefore, it is appropriate to use rational emotion cognitive therapy for counseling the traumatic grief after the loss of a university student. irrational beliefs and self-defeating thoughts after the bereavement.
