Abstract:We used the data of the third phase of the China Family Tracking Survey (CFPS) in 2016, 2018 and 2020 and empirically analyzes the impact of children's intergenerational support on the self-rated health level of rural elderly people. The empirical results show that children's care support and emotional support can significantly improve the self-rated health level of the rural elderly; Further,we used the OLS and propensity score matching (PSM) method find that the above results are still valid. Heterogeneity test results showed that the self-rated health level of younger age, female, and elderly in central and eastern regions was more likely to be affected by the intergenerational support of children. The results show that there is a transmission mechanism of "intergenerational support of children, life satisfaction and self-rated health of the rural elderly". The results of this paper provide an effective reference for further promoting the process of healthy aging.
