Abstract:As the population ages, the incidence of cognitive dysfunction (also known as "dementia") is on the rise. The impact of disease "stigma" on patients with dementia has received widespread attention. The article describes the concept, type and current situation of dementia "stigma", and points out that dementia "stigma" shows different characteristics in terms of knowledge, attitude and behavior. It also summarizes the impact of "stigma" on the social participation, health-seeking behavior and health of elderly adults with cognitive impairment. Additionally, the article discusses current international interventions, effectiveness and existing problems regarding the "de-stigmatization" of dementia. Based on existing research, it is pointed out that the issue of dementia stigma should be paid attention in China. It proposes building a "de-stigmatizing" social environment through dementia-friendly communities, and at the same time pay attention to the utilization of health services and health inequalities caused by "stigma" Equity. We also emphasize the importance of equity and cultural inclusion in building dementia-friendly communities.
