Since its establishment in 1934, Nanjing Medical University has upheld the pioneering spirit and ventured into the "uncharted territory" in the fields of basic medicine, public health and preventive medicine, clinical medicine, and even traditional Chinese medicine. It has achieved numerous domestic and international "firsts", relieved human suffering, and facilitated perfect health, thereby embodying the historical mission and responsibility of serving the country through medicine and strengthening the country through science and technology. On the occasion of its 90th anniversary, this paper attempts to undertake a summary and review, motivating teachers and students to aspire to serve the country, acquire new knowledge, and create a new future. The aim is to expedite the establishment of a distinctive "Double First-Class" medical university and better serve the strategies of a healthy China and a strong educational nation.
