Abstract:With the acceleration of population aging and the extension of life expectancy, research on healthy life expectancy has received special attention. In this work, data for Nanjing in 2023, starting from the age of 18, are used for self-reported health standards and GALI health standards. CHOPIT model is used to estimate the disability measures. Then, a method called Sullivan is used to calculate the health life expectancy. Our results indicate that: (1) Under the two health standards, the adjusted disability measure shows an upward trend, synchronized with an increase in age. As expected, women's data is once again higher than men's. The corrected data is consistent with the population's disability level. (2) The healthy life expectancy under self-reported health standards is significantly lower than that under GALI health standards. The difference is more pronounced in the older age group. (3) Under the two health standards, the proportion of women's healthy life expectancy is smaller than that of men, and the elderly group of women has poorer health conditions. Based on this, it is recommended to focus on research regarding gender differences and emphasize on healthy life expectancy, improve health levels, and enhance the healthcare service system for the elderly.
