Objective: To understand the current situation of the development of the municipal maternal and children health care hospitals in Jiangsu Province, find out the existing problems, and provide the basis for the future development planning of the municipal maternal and child health care institutions,and the scientific decision-making of the health administrative departments. Methods: The data including basic situation, economic operation, medical expense, service provision and utilization of the maternal and child health care institutions in Jiangsu Province in 2014 were collected from the monitoring system of Jiangsu Maternal and Child Health Center. Results: The development of municipal maternal and children health care hospitals was not balanced; the personnel system and government financial investment were insufficient; the control of medical expense needed to be strengthened; the utilization rate of hospital bed was high in some hospitals. Conclusion: Municipal maternal and child health care hospitals should strengthen the construction of infrastructure; staffing should be revised and talents should be introduced; the government’s financial investment in maternal and child health hospitals should be increased; the level of medical expenses should be reasonably controlled.
