Abstract:Objective: To explore the self-forgiveness status and its related factors of medical students and the correlation with the variable of mental health, and provide an evidence to improve the self-forgiveness and the mental health of medical students. Methods: A total of 720 medical students from 3 medical universities were randomly selected as the research sample, and were surveyed by the Self-made questionnaire and some Scales. Results: Self-forgiveness level of medical students was 27.0 ± 4.74, medical students’ self-forgiveness level had no statistical significance in grade and specialty (P > 0.05), some factors of guilt, anger, and personality related to self-forgiveness significantly (P < 0.05), and self-forgiveness of medical students was significantly related to anxiety, depression and happiness (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Guilt, anger, personality of medical students have different effects on self-forgiveness, their self-forgiveness level also affects their mental health and well-being.
