Clinical empathy refers to the ability of the medical staff to understand the patient’s experience, needs and thoughts, communicate with them, and verify the accuracy of communication to provide treatment. Studies have shown that clinical empathy not only has an impact on patients and treatment outcomes but also has a dual effect on medical staff. The effects of various methods of clinical empathy intervention vary, and on this basis, the related causes and coping strategies are analyzed; in the future clinical empathy research should focus on the discussion of factors affecting empathy, clinical practice training, optimization of intervention methods, and the impact of individual differences and macro?environment on medical staff’s ability to empathize.
