Since December 2019， the epidemic of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan， Hubei has progressed rapidly. Social organizations have played an important role in the prevention and control of COVID-19 as a supplementary force of the government. On the basis of explaining the advantages of social organizations， this article analyzes their specific ways to participate in the prevention and control of the epidemic. It also puts proposals to improve the institutional security system， regulate the participation and cooperation mechanism， improve the efficiency of official social organizations， strengthen social publicity， optimize the disclosure of information， and enhance the organization’s own capabilities when the social organizations participate in the control the outbreaks of novel coronavirus pneumonia. It provides the social organizations participating in emergency with some theories and practice of emergency management as references as well.
