To provide reference for the supervision of centralized TCM decoction for patients in Nanjing area. Current situation and existing problems of operation mode were investigated and analyzed through the methods of field visits, interviews, and questionnaires facing to medical institutions, drug distributors and experts. In the two aspects of legitimacy and standardization, the present problems of the quality and safety included institutions’ qualification, prescription circulation, prescription checking, prescription dispensing, decocting process, package label, management of drug residue, and etc. It is suggested to provide safer, more convenient and high quality services by means of improving the threshold of access, establishing register records system, pushing the prescription circulation， and perfecting traceability system.
