According to the principle of stratified random sampling, 3400 medical school students were interviewed by using the scale of mobile phone dependence and social support assessment. The average degree of mobile phone dependence among medical school students limits to infrequent occasional usage. There were significant score difference in the social support(F=4.353, P<0.05), especially the objective support(F= 13.277,P<0.001), a significant negative correlation between the mobile phone dependence and the social support(P<0.01). It is common for medical school students to rely on mobile phones at certain extent, and that is largely associated with the access to gain social support. The universities should help students overcome potential extensive mobile phone dependence through the means of enhancing student perception, strengthening professional identity, improving interpersonal communication, and creating better social support environment.
