Abstract:Objective: To explore the clinical effect of double-wire suture anchor fixation combined with suture weave tension band technique in the treatment of patellar inferior pole fracture in the elderly. Methods: According to the inclusion-exclusion criteria, 55 elderly patients with patellar inferior pole fracture recruited in the Department of Orthopedics, First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (Jiangsu Province Hospital) from January 2020 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into two groups: double-wire anchor fixation combined with suture tension band treatment group (Group A) and traditional Kirschner wire tension band treatment group (Group B). 27 cases were in Group A and 28 cases were in Group B.Clinical data such as preoperative waiting time, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative fluoroscopy times, fracture healing time, knee joint flexion and extension range of motion (ROM), incidence of complications and postoperative knee joint function (evaluated by Bostman score and excellent rate) were compared between two groups. Results: All patients were followed up for an average of 13.2 months. The operation time, intraoperative fluoroscopy times, fracture healing time, knee joint flexion and extension range of motion (ROM), Bostman score and excellent rate in Group A were significantly better than those in Group B (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the preoperative waiting time, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative complications between Group A and Group B (P>0.05). Conclusion: Double-wire suture anchor fixation combined with suture weave tension band technique can achieve good clinical effect for the elderly patients with patellar inferior pole fracture, which is worthy of further promotion.
