Objective:To investigate the expression of aquaporin-4 in human colorectal carcinoma tissue and analyze its clinical significance. Methods:Human colorectal carcinoma tissue was obtained from the First Affiliated Hospital of NJMU. The expressions of aquaporin-4 in human colorectal carcinoma tissue and paraneoplastic normal tissue were detected by Western Blot and reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR) analysis, respectively. Results:The expression of aquaporin-4 in human colorectal carcinoma tissue was markedly higher than paraneoplastic tissue; moreover, the expression of aquaporin-4 in human colorectal carcinoma tissue was correlated with tumor stage and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion:The expression of aquaporin-4 in human colorectal carcinoma tissue was increased; aquaporin-4 might play an important role in tumor local invasion and metastasis.
