Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the role of ultrasonography(US) in diagnosing orbit diseases, compared with CT and MRI.Methods:The image datum of 84 cases were retrospectively analyzed and correlated with postoperative pathology results. Results:On physical diagnosis,US and CT/MRI showed no significant difference. When correlated with pathology, the coincidences of US and CT/MRI were:solid lesion,92% and 89.3%;cystic lesion,100% and 90%;inflammatory lesion,100% and 95.7%;vascular lesion,100% and 77.8%. Conclusion:On intra-orbit lesions,US is superior to CT/MRI,because it is cheap, safe, sensitive and real-time.However,CT/MRI might be better,if the lesion intrudes the eye sockets.
