Abstract:Objective:To observe the prevention and therapeutic effects of alendronate combined with simvastatin on the osteoporosis in rats. Methods:Thirty SD female rats were randomly divided into six groups:the ovariectomized group(A), the OVX with alendronate treatment group(B), the OVX with alendronate and the simvastatin treatment group(C), the sham operation group(D), the sham operation with alendronate treatment group(E), the sham operation with alendronate and simvastatin treatment group(F). Two weeks after OVX operation, medical intervention was given into each group except of group A. After three months, all rats were sacrificed. We observed the change of rats’ femoral bone density(BMD), bone gamma-carboxyglutamic-acid-containing proteins(BGP), osteoprotegerin(OPG) and osteoprotegerin ligand(OPGL). Results:The level of BMD in group A was lower than that in the group D(P < 0.05). The level of BMD raised in group B compared to the group A, and in group C BMD raised compared to the group B. The level of BGP in group A was higher than that in the group D(P < 0.05). The level of BGP decreased in group B compared to the group A, and in group C BMD decreased compared to the group B. The level of OPG in group A was lower than that in the group D(P < 0.05). The level of OPG increased in group B and C, compared to the group A. The level of OPGL in group A was higher than that in the group D(P < 0.05). The level of BGP degraded in group B and C, compared to the group A. Conclusion:Combined application of alendronate and simvastatin has better effect than simply application of alendronate on the osteoporosis in rats, and maybe take influence by OPG and OPGL.
