Abstract:Objective:To measure the rabbit liver volume(LV) by volume-measuring method supplied by multi-slice CT (MSCT) software and evaluate it’s application value in liver transplantation. Methods:Ten New Zealand rabbits underwent plain and enhanced 3-phase scan using 16-slice CT. Rabbit LV was measured by both method for measuring outline and volume-measuring method supplied by MSCT software in vivo respectively, and followed by measurement of water displacement in vivo. Results:Rabbit LV was(61.00 ± 8.95) cm3 when measured by method for measuring outline, which was significant lower than (73.25 ± 7.49) cm3 when measued by measuring water displacement, whereas no significant difference was found between(73.30 ± 10.88) cm3 and(73.25 ± 7.49) cm3 when comparing rabbit LV measured by volume-measuring method supplied by MSCT software and measurement of water displacement. Conclusion:Measurement of water displacement is better for measuring rabbit LV than measuring outline.
