For a better understanding of the living conditions of young university teachers after great development of higher education, this study investigated the career planning status of young teachers in five universities in South China by sampling survey. The survey showed that the overall vocational satisfaction of young university teachers is not high. While the teachers recognized the importance of career planning, most of them made short-term planning more than medium-and long-term planning. Through the analysis of the results, some suggestions were proposed for the optimization of young teachers’ career planning in colleges and universities under the new situation. Thereafter,we explored how college unions play the role of a link to the service of school teaching and research and other central tasks, and promoted young teachers’ growth and development.
