Objective: To investigate the effects of cytokine IL-13 on proliferation and invasion of human colon cancer LS174T cells. Methods: LS174T cells were treated with 20 ng/ml recombinant human IL-13 as final concentration. The proliferative and invasive abilities of the cells were determined by MTT assay and Transwell invasion assay,respectively. Results: The MTT result showed that the proliferative capacity of IL-13 treatment group was significantly higher than that of control group(P < 0.05). IL-13 treatment group produced significantly more invasive cells than that of control group. Conclusion: Recombinant human IL-13 at a certain concentration could induce the proliferation and invasion of LS174T cells.
